Agua Plus

Agua Plus is going the whole hog. It will be barbecuing a pig on a spit during Christmas week (“Boxing Day, probably,” said manager James at press-time). And it’ll be warming the cockles of its customers hearts on cold December evenings with mulled wine and warm Aperol, an Italian aperitif served with citrus fruit. New Year’s Eve will be a big party night, with a DJ in charge of the tunes and Madan cooking up some late-night snacks. 72-74 Po Tung Road, Sai Kung, 2791 2030.

Hebe One O One

Hebe One O One knows a thing or two about celebrating the holidays. It has a host of special menus, including a five-course meal on Christmas Eve ($398), a marathon turkey Christmas Day lunch from noon to 10.30pm ($498), and a Boxing Day Rib-Eye Roast with all the trimmings ($198). If you boogied on down at its 1970s disco party last New Year’s Eve, you can move on a decade for this year’s “Rewind to the 80s” theme. Dress code is Rubik’s cube to Rick Astley. Tickets, including five-course dinner and all drinks, $688 before December 24, $788 from December 25; drinks-only, $388. And to help with the hangover on New Year’s Day, it’s offering unlimited bloody Mary until 6pm for $101. Bookings essential on 2335 5515 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Classified

Classified has two special Christmas menus for private parties of 10-15 people in its upstairs room, priced at $500 or $750 a head. On the $500 menu, starters include charcuterie, a pasta dish and a main of roast turkey, rack of lamb, sea bass or hanger steak, plus Christmas pudding and a cheese selection. The $750 option includes wine, a selection of canapes and starters (we like the sound of the potato and artichoke cappuccino). Mains include saddle of lamb, pot-roasted pheasant, salmon fillet, beef bourginon and venison with juniper, followed by pear tatin and a cheese selection. Also look for its hampers. Anthony’s Ranch

With its turkey dinner honed over Thanksgiving, Anthony’s Ranch is all set to go for Christmas. Owner Anthony Sweet is promising succulent birds from his special oven, with a smoked turkey option available. The “fixin’s” will be similar to Thanksgiving, he says, in which case look forward to a selection of vegetables, including candied yams, mashed potatoes, crisp green beans with red bell peppers and succotash, plus sage stuffing, fresh cranberry sauce and lashings of gravy. On New Year’s Eve you can be sure of a big party and some impromptu live music from Sweet’s musical friends. Call 2791 6113 for reservations.

Cru is open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. No turkey options but you’re welcome to bring your own crackers. Friendly staff will be spreading the Christmas cheer. Call 2791 1792 for reservations.

Jaspas will be open into the wee hours on New Year’s Eve, with its usual menu and specials on offer. “The evening usually ends with a song or two,” says manager, Sing. Open Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. For reservations, call 2792 6388.

One-Thirty One is fully booked for Christmas and Boxing Day, but it still has a few spaces left for its New Year’s Eve celebration ($1,300). Get in quick. Reservations at 2791 2684, www.one-thirtyone.com.

Steamer’s is closed on Christmas Day, giving staff a well-deserved day off. Business as usual will be resumed on Boxing Day, and expect a party crowd on New Year’s Eve. Details at 2792 6991.
